Orejiamarillo al sol!
view stills

Technichus auditorium, Härnösand, SE 2008-08-02

A couple of Orejiamarillo parrots made a journey from their tropical homeland to the sunny Härnösand region attracted by gossips on the dizzly strange effects of low frequency noises produced by the wind mill on the top of the mountain. They're curious also about the pilgrims dressed in newspapers braids who are showing off here and there in town with astonishing solar lamps mounted inside small rocks, claiming to be representing Orejiamarillo's cause...Flying, landing, wondering...
Quelgualó

Glass House at Valand School of Arts, Göteborg, SE: 2007-12-08

In Quelgualó we are exploring what happens when a sound, either verbal expression, ambient, warning or other is put out of context. As foreigners living in Sweden, we perceive spoken Swedish, as a repertoire of sound objects, since we're unable to understand the content. Although this actual meaning is missing, a lot of other virtual (possible) meanings arise, even the sensation that it could be a sound produced by a different kind of living being. In Quelgualó a sine wave tone which is usually heard while being put on hold in a telephone call, is taken off this particular context, and used as a motive in a musical composition, using its rhythmic structure or pitch content as raw material for the piece. This resonates also in the use of everyday objects. Here an object made for cleaning purposes, is instead used for body training, fighting or even hunting, or, again, as some kind of prosthetics of a different living being. In this piece we play with a washing glove as a physical interface, which triggers and processes the sound objects mentioned above.

The polyglot washing glove was born in the last week of November, 2007, during the Presentiment of a Universe workshop with Roman Kischner and Yunchul Kim.

Cows and clouds

A humorous visualization of the Milky Way galaxy is presented based on scientific facts of this cosmic structure, with keyboards and programming of a song by Juan Hernandez. The piece presents a contrast between the center of the galaxy where a huge black hole is supposed to be and where stars create strange patterns, with the outer structure of the spiral arms where a cow travels. Amber color was chosen for the clouds of stars reminding old black and amber computer displays, and check boars textures were used for the cow and balloons to refer to popular science illustrations.
